The Garamond font was created by Claude Garamond in the sixteenth century. Garamond is not just one typeface; it is many different typefaces. When creating the typeface, Claude did not want it to look too similar to handwriting so he gave it distinctive features, such as the ‘W’ having middle strokes crossing over each other. Robert Simbach created Adobe Garamond in 1989. People liked the typeface because it was a graceful reinterpretation of Claude Garamond’s design.
This poster was a typography class project. We were each given a typeface to research and design a poster for.
